Family Constellations

Trees in a forest mirror the ways in which we as humans are connected.

Each tree stands in its own space, yet what appears to be a collection of individual beings is, in truth, a living system of relationship and exchange beneath the ground.

We too live within networks that are largely invisible – emotional bonds, unconscious loyalties and inherited patterns that lie beneath the surface of our awareness. These dynamics quietly shape who we are, how we relate to ourselves, how we relate to others, and the ways we move through the world.

From our lineage, we inherit gifts – strength, creativity and wisdom. We may also inherit trauma: unresolved grief, patterns of fear, or burdens that were never ours to carry.

Family Constellations invites us to see what lives below the surface. When we acknowledge what is, widen our lens and see the larger truth, the blocks can begin to dissolve and love can flow more freely through the family system.

The group process

What happens in a family constellation?

In a group setting, we come together and take time to ground and settle, to share, and to create a sacred space for the work. If you choose to bring a constellation, you come to the chair and we begin with a conversation.

You may then choose people from the group to represent members of your family or other elements of the situation. The representatives are invited to drop into their bodies and notice what they feel – their sensations, impulses and movements.

Together, they form a living map of the family system. As the representatives respond and move, the constellation begins to unfold. The field shows what needs to be seen, heard and acknowledged.

There are many ways to take part

You are welcome as you are

There will be space and time for some participants to have a personal constellation. You do not need to arrive with a perfectly formed question.

As the day unfolds, something within you may begin to stir, and you will know if you feel called to come to the chair.

We also benefit from one another’s work. There can be a gift for us in representing and in witnessing another person’s constellation. Our shared humanity, the depth of our love, our grief and loss, our tenderness and vulnerability, touches us all.

You do not need to bring a constellation of your own to experience the depth of this work. The field may offer insight and healing through witnessing, representing and simply being present.

A quieter way in

One-to-one constellations

Some people come to constellations with a question they would rather explore privately, or in their own time. A one-to-one session offers that space.

In one-to-one constellations we use objects to represent the different parts of the system. Through meditative inquiry we feel into and explore what is being shown through the objects. We allow the field to unfold and offer healing sentences and movement. We acknowledge what has been hidden from our consciousness, so that what has been entangled can find its rightful place, and you can move forward with more freedom, belonging and peace.

The work is quiet and close. Nothing is forced. We go at the pace of what is ready to be met.

Sessions are 60 or 90 minutes. For a first session I suggest 90 minutes, so there is time to arrive, talk through what brings you, and let the constellation unfold.

“Some think they are seeking their own soul’s truth, but the greater Soul is thinking and seeking through them.”

Ways to experience the work

In a group or one-to-one

Both forms offer space to meet what is present with care. You may already know which feels right, or we can explore that together.

Group sessions

Some people are drawn to the group, where the presence of others brings its own depth and support.

In a workshop, the group becomes part of the living field of the work. You may bring a constellation of your own, stand as a representative in someone else’s, or simply witness the movements that unfold. We often find insight in representing for others, and we are often deeply touched by others’ work, as their stories resonate with ours.

The group holds the work with care. Nothing is forced, and you are free to take part in whatever way feels right on the day.

There are full Family Constellations days and four-hour themed workshops at Wildwood Studio, Bandon, exploring themes such as money, relationships, soul purpose and the inner child.

“Thank you for your beautiful work with me. Your pacing and attunement was perfect, as was the input from the group. It was very helpful in progressing my journey.”

“I think that you did a wonderful job in holding space, facilitating, supporting and nurturing to help people break through barriers and fears. I felt very safe in your presence, and I could see that others did too – and to me, that’s the most important part of it all.”
